The Sorcerer’s Hat at Disney’s Hollywood Studios will be closing on January 7th, 2015 . The final day for the icon and the store underneath is January 6th. Pins and pin related merchandise will be relocated to Sunset Ranch on Sunset Boulevard at that time.
The Sorcerer Mickey Hat debuted in 2001 as part of the “100 Years of Magic” celebration at Walt Disney World Resort. It was intended to be a temporary structure. Nonetheless, the hat remained long past the celebration and become closely identified with the park. Nonetheless, its location in Hollywood Boulevard – themed to “the Hollywood that never was and always would be” – remained a point of debate among some Disney fans for how its aesthetic altered the theme park’s theming.
We will be sorry to see that hat go, but excited to see what changes are in store for Disney’s Hollywood Studios
