On September 30, the world famous Peabody ducks will have their final march at The Peabody Orlando. The hotel, which has been in Orlando for 26 years, is becoming a Hyatt Regency Orlando Convention Center on October 1 so no more ducks at the hotel. Sad to see them go. This was posted on the Peabody Orlando’s Facebook Page:
“On behalf of everyone at The Peabody Orlando, we appreciate your kind words about our Peabody Ducks and hotel. It has been an honor to serve our guests for 26 years. On Oct. 1, we welcome Hyatt Regency Orlando Convention Center to International Drive and look forward to their success. Our final March of the Peabody Ducks will be held on Sept. 30. Afterwards, our Peabody Ducks will return to the wild farm where they were born, raised and will live there for a short period before returning to a wild environment. Again, we thank you for your patronage and compliments, and we hope you will visit Hyatt Regency Orlando Convention Center soon. For questions about reservations at The Peabody Orlando prior to Oct. 1, please contact us at 800.PEABODY.”
Why couldn’t the new owners have negotiated a deal to keep the iconic ducks quacking? It could remain its own tourist attraction and perhaps be contracted out to the new hotel. Too bad
