I am part of a group called Sandwich EatUp and we meet once a month at different Orlando restaurants who serve sandwiches. Our March meetup was at Brianto’s Original Hoagies in Avalon Park. I don’t typically venture into Avalon Park since I live in the downtown Orlando area, but I’ve had a difficult time finding an amazing Philly cheesesteak in Orlando so I thought I’d give it a shot. I got there a few minutes early so I ordered a beer. They carry several varieties on draft and several bottles as well. They don’t have an extensive selection, but the star of the show is really their Philly cheesesteak.
I got a small 6″ cheesesteak hoagie with mushrooms, onions and provolone. Your choices of cheese are cheese whiz, white American or provolone, just like in Philadelphia. One of my dining companions ordered double meat and double cheese, which I’ll definitely order the next time I go. Cheesesteak was one of the best I’ve had in Orlando. Meat was very tasty and veggies were cooked perfectly. I also ordered fries, which was enough to feed at least two people. To finish out the experience, we had funnel cake fries. I’m not sure if that is what they are really called, but that’s what they were. I was like eating a funnel cake except shaped like french fries.
The reason their hoagies are so good is that they import all of the products from Philadelphia and use the following products:
- Amoroso Rolls
- The Philadelphia Cheese Steak Company
- Cheese Whiz
- Herr’s Chips
- Tastykakes
- Hank’s Gourmet Soda
- Hatfield Deli Meats
- Philadelphia Super Pretzels
- B&G Sweet Peppers and Crushed Hot Peppers
They also show every major Philadelphia Sporting event: Phillies, Flyers, Sixers and the Eagles.
Brianto’s is located in Avalon Park at 12001 Avalon Lakes Blvd., Orlando.
I highly recommend this restaurant if you looking for authentic Philly cheesesteak sandwich.
